Fern Britton is set to go head-to-head with her This Morning replacement Holly Willoughby at the National Television Awards.

The pair are on the longlist in the entertainment presenter category, in which Ant and Dec will be going for a record ninth win.

Paul O'Grady, who hit the headlines last week for threatening to quit Channel 4 over a budget-cutting row, and the awards show's host himself, Dermot O'Leary, also feature in the category, which does not nominate stars for specific programmes.

Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor will battle it out to be the most-loved talent show.

Strictly edged into first place last time, but Simon Cowell, whose show Britain's Got Talent is also on the longlist, could get his revenge.

Coronation Street will be hoping to end EastEnders' four-year reign in the serial drama category.

And comedian Michael McIntyre received his first-ever NTA nomination, with his Comedy Roadshow slugging it out in the comedy programme category alongside established names such as Harry Hill's TV Burp and Gavin And Stacey.

Two Hamlets will also battle it out in the drama performance category - David Tennant for his Doctor Who role and Kenneth Branagh, who plays brooding a Scandinavian detective in the show Wallander.

The awards, in their 15th year, are traditionally based at London's Royal Albert Hall, but will move to the O2 arena for January's ceremony.

Broadcast live on UTV, the show will see O'Leary take on the mantle as host from Sir Trevor McDonald.
