Bosses at The Standard Hotel in New York City have fired an employee who leaked the surveillance video footage of Jay Z in an altercation with Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles.

On Monday, video footage obtained by TMZ.com showed Knowles embroiled in an explosive bust-up with her brother-in-law, as she appears to be kicking and punching Jay in an elevator after the trio left a party following the Met Gala on 5 May.

Now bosses at the hotel have found the employee responsible for taking the footage from security cameras and have fired the worker.

A statement from The Standard Hotel officials confirms the unnamed staff member was terminated for "breaching the security polices of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video," and promises to give "all available information to criminal authorities".

Neither Beyonce, Jay Z, nor Solange have released official statements on the matter, but the hip-hop supercouple showed a united front after the video leaked by sitting together courtside at a Brooklyn Nets basketball game this week.

On Wednesday, the Single Ladies singer posted various snaps of herself and her sister on Instagram.
