The new look Lyric theatre opened its doors in May after a major renovation, with The Crucible taking centre stage.
Now the Naughton Studio, a performance smaller space within the complex, will enjoy its debut with a play from Adrian Dunbar.
"Absolutely completely full circle for me - this is where I started my career," Adrian told UTV.
"I was two years into my drama course at the Guildhall in London when I got the call to come to the Lyric and, full circle, here I am opening the Naughton studio and it is fabulous."
The play Brendan at the Chelsea is about poet Brendan Behan, and was written by his niece Janet.
Adrian continued: "This a play that explores the last evening of his sojourn in the Chelsea Hotel in New York , the people who he is in contact with there and his reminiscences across that evening and what happens towards the end of it.
"It is a big slice of life a big look at Brendan's life over that one evening. It is funny there is a lot of pathos in it and it is a really very entertaining show and thank you for starting here at the Lyric."
It will be performed at the Lyric's Naughton Studio until 19 June.
