Mr Duffy's wife Lisa took a Ryanair flight out of Dublin with their 13-year-old girl, but they were separated after their flight to London was cancelled due to the storms on Friday.

Mr Duffy's wife had to return from the arrivals area of the airport to the baggage area to collect her luggage; but was not allowed to be accompanied by her daughter.

The former Boyzone singer subsequently voiced his outrage at the company in a series of posts on Twitter, writing: "Separating a mother and her special needs daughter (is) disgusting Im (sic) so upset and furious! My poor little girl..."

However it later emerged that the airline was not responsible for the separation.

A Ryanair spokesperson told UTV: "We understand that this passenger and her daughter were separated in the arrivals hall at Dublin Airport. While we regret the situation, it had nothing to do with Ryanair.

"We have been in contact with the passenger and look forward to welcoming them onboard their next Ryanair flight."

Mr Duffy later thanked the airline for "addressing (his) situation so professionally".

Correct. Ryan Air will only separate a mother from her child on the flight. Preferably 15-16 rows apart.Unless she pays through the nose for a seat.
