      Dubliner Caoimhe quits Big Brother

Irish student Caoimhe has quit reality tv series Big Brother.

The Dubliner walked out of the Channel 4 reality show after almost six weeks in the house and two weeks after her close friend Shabby also quit.

Caoimhe asked to leave on Monday night, saying she wanted to get back to her boyfriend and family, and saying she was finding life tough in the house.

She told her fellow housemates she valued the relationship with her boyfriend more than continuing her Big Brother experience.

The quiff-haired housemate proposed to her boyfriend from the Diary Room after becoming worried that he might misconstrue her close relationship with lesbian squatter Shabby, who confessed she had feelings for Caoimhe.

As she left, the other housemates lined up by the Diary Room door to hug her goodbye and Rachel led a cheer and chanted her name.

Ben kissed her goodbye and told her: "Give my love to Shabby."

After she left, John James leant against the wall, looking despondent, and was hugged by Mario.

He then went out alone to the snug and burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably.

Josie, who had been smoking in the garden and did not say goodbye to Caoimhe, with whom she had argued, stuck her head through the door and told him: "You're such a sensitive soul."

Caoimhe was punished by Big Brother for asking the other housemates to nominate her this week, as she wanted to leave, and so was not allowed to nominate herself.

She did not know that she was in fact nominated for eviction this week, along with new arrival Rachel.

After telling the housemates she had talked things over with Big Brother and was leaving, she told Ben "I feel so relieved."

She added: "They asked me 'Would you not wait until nominations?' And, OK, I might be up, but what if I'm not?

"I know in my head it's time, there's no point any more. They said the majority of people regret it, but that's their job at the end of the day."

Ben said: "You were so close to Shabby and you have lasted two weeks without her."

John James was very upset his friend was leaving the show but said he could understand her reasons for doing it.

Talking to Dave in the garden, he said: "I can see why she is leaving. She was close to Shabby. She has proposed to her boyfriend in here and heard nothing and she has done things which she worries might have upset him."

The housemates now feel tense about nominations and wonder if they will be asked to nominate again.

Keeley has been told her nominations are void as punishment for discussing her choices last night.
