The pair had been preparing to perform 1980s chart smash Especially For You at the Hit Factory Live tribute gig for music producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman at Hyde Park on Wednesday, but organisers pulled the plug on the event on Tuesday after heavy rain turned the site into a mudbath.
Donovan told fans he was "extremely disappointed" at the decision, but admitted he was hoping for another chance to hit the stage with his one-time girlfriend and former Neighbours co-star.
Now he admits he would love to take to the stage with Minogue during an episode of TV talent contest Superstar, on which he serves as a judge.
He tells The Sun: "We were both genuinely looking forward to it and disappointed it didn't happen in the end. We were rehearsed and it felt like the right time. But the glorious British weather had other ideas.
"I would love to do it another time. Nothing's been planned but it would be great to perform Especially For You on Superstar."
