Beloved TV veteran David Jason has landed a major literary honour for his 2013 autobiography.

David Jason wins top literary award

The Only Fools and Horses and Open All Hours star picked up his latest accolade for My Life at the Specsavers National Book Awards.

He won out over comedienne Jennifer Saunders and chefs Rick Stein and Mary Berry for the top prize in the autobiography category.

Funnyman David Walliams also walked away a winner, after his Demon Dentist was named Children's Book of the Year - a prize he also won in 2012.

Meanwhile, Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai picked up the Non-fiction Prize for I Am Malala, and Robert Harris' An Officer and A Spy was named the winner of the fiction prize.

All the winners will now be added to a public vote for the Book of the Year, which will be announced on 26 December.
