The actor explained that while Tim does like the mother-of-two, he feels she is too keen on their relationship.
"Tim's a commitment-phobe who tries not to think about the future too much. He's just living for the moment," said Joe.
"Sally's really nice and he definitely does like her. He's just a bit wary at this early stage about getting too serious. I think he's hanging onto his eternal youth a little bit - he's still scared of growing up."
Sally unknowingly makes the situation worse when she starts planning a luxury trip to Paris for the pair.
Feeling overwhelmed by the situation, Tim gets cold feet about how serious their budding relationship is becoming.
Joe explained: "Tim likes the idea of a weekend away, but doesn't want to go anywhere as far or expensive as Paris. He was thinking more along the lines of a bag of chips on the pier, a couple of pints in the pub and back to the B+B.
"As soon as he suggests a break away to Sally though, she gets a bit too keen which freaks him out.
"Tim bottles out of the idea and tries to dip out of the relationship a bit by hiding in his flat, pretending he's working away... much to Jason's amusement!"
Joe added: "He wants his cake and wants to eat it as well. He's immature in relationships and doesn't really think about what her needs are. Similarly to how he has been with Faye - he shirks responsibility."
