The pub landlady is trying to deal with the dramatic events which saw Karl attack Dev Alahan and take Stella hostage in the Rovers, but she is unable to get her head around what happened.
The newlywed was devastated when her husband confessed that he started the Rovers fire to frame her ex-boyfriend Jason Grimshaw, and killed Sunita when she began to show signs of recovery in order to cover his tracks.
"Stella is ridden with guilt, regret and shame and she can't escape the fact that she let this man into her life," explained Michelle.
"She never for one second imagined that Karl would be capable of causing this much devastation, and the realisation is completely earth-shattering for her.
"Stella is quite a fragile thing - she may act the feisty landlady, but behind that she's delicate and vulnerable and this just completely knocks her for six," added Michelle.
She can't help but think that if she hadn't have given Karl another chance then they wouldn't be in this position.

Stella soon turns to the bottle to help her face people in the pub, as she blames herself for the damage Karl has done.
Michelle said: "Stella figures that it can't get much worse and that drinking might help her deal with the sympathy and pity on all the faces she sees in the Rovers."
And with Stella spiralling out of control Eva and Gloria become more and more concerned for her well-being as it is clear she's not moving on from this life-shattering revelation.
"Stella isn't coping. In the past she's been able to put on a brave face, especially when it comes to her business, but this time it's different. That's why she has to drink to get through it.
"I think Gloria and Eva are really worried for her when they see she can't even face working in the pub that she's fought so hard for."
