Will the Platts forgive David following the Christening reveal? (© ITV)
After months of speculation, viewers finally learned that David's brother Nick Tilsley is not the father, following his one-night stand with his sister-in-law Kylie on Christmas night.
David uncovered the affair months ago but instead of choosing to confront the pair, he blamed everything on his brother and set out for revenge, causing a horrific crash that left Nick in a coma.
After finally regaining consciousness, Nick told his brother that he remembered everything about the crash and threatened to go to the police to tell the truth about the accident if David didn't get a paternity test.
Speaking in behind-the-scenes footage, actress Paul Lane, who plays Kylie, said she was very pleased with the revealing episode.
"I think the episode was brilliant, I personally have waited about ten months for it now for it all to kick off and to be revealed, so I think the audience should be very pleased with it," she said.
"Doing the reveal, my heart was just going ten to the dozen, it was crazy, but I was so excited to do it.
"I sat down with my scripts quite a few days before and pictured in my head how I wanted it to play out. So I am very pleased with how it all went."
Viewers watched as an angry Kylie revealed the whole truth to a packed church after finding out David had tried to kill his brother.
She told him to leave as she wanted nothing to do with him.
"The episode was very dramatic, David has been banished and, yeah he did a terrible thing with trying to kill Nick, but who do you feel sorry for?" joked Jack P. Shepherd.
As well as the impact the revelations had on David and Kylie, Nick's wife Leanne also finally learned the truth.
However actor Ben Price said his character is not going to be as sorry as he would have been before the accident.
"I think after this episode Nick and Leanne's relationship is never going to be the same, she has just found out I slept with my sister-in-law, which is going to be tricky," he said.
"But I think in the way Nick holds it for him, his ego is (saying): 'Well hold on, you were with Peter (Barlow), I wasn't with you, it happened, but let's just move on'.
"He is changing - he has had that big accident and I think he is changing."
But while everything is now out in the open, the cast are adamant that more drama will come for the Platt family.
"We have all enjoyed the storyline but, funnily enough, I have just been told it is just the beginning," revealed Jack.
"There is still a lot more to come for the Platts," added Paula.
"It's Platt-nation Street," she joked.
Coronation Street is on UTV on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
