The 25-year-old actor, who plays Tommy Duckworth, has issued an apology, adding he is "deeply ashamed" of the lyrics which glorify violence and rape.
The YouTube video showed the star wearing a Halloween mask and delivering an expletive-laden performance, which show bosses found "totally unacceptable".
It is no longer accessible to the general public.
In a statement, Chris, who has also starred in Hollyoaks and took part in Dancing On Ice, said: "I would like to sincerely apologise for any offence I have caused. I am deeply ashamed by the lyrics and very much regret my behaviour.
"The videos were made over a year ago when I was experimenting with music and I've not done anything like it since and nor will I."
A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: "ITV find both the language used and the views expressed in this video totally unacceptable.
"Chris Fountain has been suspended pending further inquiries into this matter."
He is the third Corrie star to be suspended this year.
Michael Le Vell and Bill Roache have been written out of the soap while they face child sex trials. They have both denied any wrongdoing in their respective cases.
