MCM Comic Con is set to return to Belfast next year following the success of its first event in the city.

Around 16,000 people attended the convention last weekend at the King's Hall, with many turning out dressed as their favourite cult characters.

This year's event saw the likes of the Red Dwarf cast and comic creators Glenn Fabry, Simon Bisley and John Mcrea included in the bill of special guests.

"Given the enthusiast support for the show, we're delighted to announce that not only will MCM Belfast Comic Con be returning next year, but that we plan to expand the event as well," MCM said on its website.

"Once again, thanks to everyone who attended - hope to see you again in 2015!"
