The Made in Chelsea star, who is known as being the cleanest member of the group, was voted by the public to take on the latest challenge - which is entitled Savage Sewer.
Hugo will have to make his way through a series of underground pipes to collect stars and earn meals for camp, accompanied by pythons, toads, mud crabs, spiders and rats.
Fellow celebrities rallied round him on Tuesday, with Corrie star Helen Flanagan admitting she is relieved to have been given a break from the trials.
"You'll be amazing," she said, adding: "It was just a massive relief for me and for camp. It was nice for someone else to do it."
Before heading out to meet Ant and Dec for the trial, Hugo confessed that he will have to abandon his cleanly side if he wants to be successful.
"I can tell it's going to be absolutely downright dirty filthy and abandon my priority for cleanliness," he said.
"You've got to embrace the disgusting that's going to be the way to go. I'm not a clean freak. I do like to be clean. What I said to myself is the filth washes off.
"It's not going to last forever."
As Hugo walked across the bridge, boxer David Haye joked: "I'm just praying his clothes don't get dirty."
