The Fight for This Love singer sported glitzy outfits, including a golden jumpsuit, as she sang to crowds on the first date of her first ever solo tour.

Fans at the Belfast show said Cheryl danced and sang live and although she didn't talk too much she did tweet her excitement at kicking off the tour before the gig.

Friend and collaborator will.i.am made an appearance during the energetic set - though on a big screen, not in person - and tunes including Promise This got exclusive remixes for the evening.

Cheryl's single, Call My Name, made it to the number one spot in the charts in June when it became the fastest selling single of this year, knocking current X Factor judge Gary Barlow's Diamond Jubilee track Sing from the top. The two stars recently reunited when Cheryl made her highly anticipated return to the talent show as a guest judge.

Cheryl, who rose to fame with Girls Aloud after winning reality TV show Popstars in 2002, previously performed in Belfast with the girl band, who are due to reform to mark their tenth anniversary.

Before the show Cheryl's bandmate Kimberley Walsh tweeted her support, writing: "Good luck tonight @CherylCole!!! You're gonna be amazing I'm so excited and proud of you! Have an amazing first show #chezzaontour."

The pop star is performing a total of 11 dates across the UK and Ireland, and her next stop is Dublin on Thursday.

Apologies beenie, it wasn't my intention to come across as aggressive, think I'm just p'd off with everything in the press this last week or two, but no need to vent my frustration on strangers! Apologies again, and no shouty capitals.

Connie - no need to yell! OK, the Republic of Ireland and N. Ireland are two different countries but they are both still 'Ireland'. Your comment to Joe came across as aggressive and patronising so I felt like I had to respond and reassure him that most of the populace here are not like that. I'm sorry if you didn't mean it like that but maybe you could lay off the shouty capitals next time?

"BEENIE" (I CAN ONLY ASSUME THATS NOT YOUR REAL NAME!) I THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT MY VIEWS ARE FAR FROM BEING IN THE MINORITY, BUT PERHAPS THATS YOUR REAL PROBLEM, THAT WE ARE NOT THE MINORITY! AND I CERTAINLY WAS NOT IMPLYING THAT PEOPLE FROM ENGLAND OR ANYWHERE ELSE WERE NOT WELCOME IN NORTHERN IRELAND, I JUST CANNOT UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE ACTUALLY PEOPLE THAT STILL DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT IRELAND AND NORTHERN IRELAND ARE TWO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES!

Joe, you and your family will always be made welcome in N. Ireland. People like Connie are (thankfully) in the minority now so please don't be put off a return visit.
