Text Santa - which returns to UTV for its fourth year in December - raises money and awareness for six UK charities and has so far raised £15m since it started in 2011.
Applications to benefit from the 2014 appeal opened in February.
Organisers have announced this year's charities will be the Alzheimer's Society, Guide Dogs, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Teenage Cancer Trust, Together for Short Lives and WellChild.
Last year's Text Santa appeal raised £5.1m for Age UK, Barnardo's, BeatBullying, British Heart Foundation, CLIC Sargent and Help the Hospices.
The live event was hosted by Northern Ireland's Christine Bleakley, Ant & Dec, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby and Paddy McGuinness and was watched by a peak audience of 6.1 million people.
A host of famous faces also lent a hand to help raise funds, including Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Olly Murs, Cheryl Cole and the cast of Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
