Alan Carr 'all for' taking a pay cut
Alan Carr has said he is "all for" taking a pay cut when his contract is renewed, saying people must pull together in the recession.

The funnyman spoke about what will happen when his two-year deal with Channel 4, which has been estimated at £3 million, comes up for renewal next year.

The star, who is a front-runner at this year's British Comedy Awards with three nominations, made light of the situation.

"Oh yeah, they've asked me to take a pay cut, and I definitely will," he told the Evening Standard.

"I'm all for it, we've all got to pull together, haven't we?

"I mean, I do realise that my timing is pretty c***. Oh my God, I wish I'd done this in the 80s when it was like, wow, look at him in his mink coat, drinking Cristal.

"Now it's like: 'You're rich, boo hoo, hand it over, a*******."'

Carr's new series of his chat show Chatty Man starts its run later this week.

He continued: "At the same time, I think: 'Why should I get more than a fireman or a nurse?'
"That's obviously ridiculous, but what can I do?"
