Expecting another eviction on Saturday night's show, the campmates were surprised to find that no one would be leaving straight away.
"He's going home," Eric had joked when it was revealed he and Colin were the two possibilities, having been successful in predicting the previous exits.
Instead the former Doctor Who actor and the darts player will compete in 'The Panic Rooms' to find out who stays and who goes.
Eric laughed at first, while Colin buried his head in his hands and looked worried by the prospect.
The twist came after Made In Chelsea's Hugo tackled his 'Drown and Out' trial in a bid to win meals for the camp.
He'd nominated himself to take part, saying he didn't mind being underwater. But by the time he made it to the trial site, he confessed to Ant and Dec that he was having a change of heart.
"I'm really regretting choosing myself to do it. My heart's racing badly. Are there spiders already in there?" he panicked.
"I thought it was going to be something completely different ..."
I thought it was going to be a fun swim under water. I've got my trunks on under my shorts.
It turned out Hugo would be lowered into a chamber which would fill will water and which had hatches on each side containing the stars.
He had ten minutes to find all eight stars - all while being joined by water-dwelling critters like yabbies, water spiders, eels and mud crabs.
"This is disgusting," he said, as he stopped to catch his breath between diving underwater to hunt for the hard-to-find stars. "I'm panicking. This is scary!"
But after several attempts, Hugo did manage to win all eight meals for the camp.
"I'm so pleased I did that - I got the same as David," he said.
And the other campmates were very impressed by his efforts.
"You are the man, Hugo," Colin said, while Charlie Brooks added: "I'm chuffed to bits for Hugo as he's really scared of spiders and I think he's overcome that."
Among the other jungle highlights, the campmates were left bemused by Helen Flanagan's fake tan faux-pas - and were terrified by a secret task which saw Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts pretend to see a monster during the night.
With her story backed up by boxer David Haye, she managed to complete the task by convincing a distinctly unnerved Hugo to swap beds with her after she'd screamed the place down.
Find out who will be next to leave the jungle in Sunday's instalment of I'm A Celeb... on UTV at 9pm.
