The actors met in London on Thursday to attend a read through of the script for episode one of the much anticipated second season.
Returning cast members David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, and Arthur Darvill were pictured with some of the actors who are joining the drama for series two, including Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Eve Myles and James D'Arcy.
Tennant will return to his role as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy, while Colman will be back as Ellie Miller, the Detective Sergeant left devastated after her husband confessed to murdering schoolboy Danny Latimer.
Whittaker and Buchan, who play Danny's parents Beth and Mark Latimer, will also return to their roles, alongside Darvill as local vicar Paul Coates.
Details of the new storylines are being kept secret as both the cast and the crew are remaining silent on how the drama will develop from the events of the first series.
Filming is expected to get underway in Dorset and North Somerset later this month, with creator and writer Chris Chibnall appealing to the media and members of the public who might observe filming to help keep Broadchurch's secrets.
He said: "We're coming back to film around West Bay and Clevedon (in Dorset). We're all thrilled about returning, especially given how supportive the whole community was last time.
"And if the community are able to keep our secrets as well as they did last time, we'll be ever so grateful."
