The former Another Level star was arrested following an alleged bust-up in Norwich, England earlier this month, and appeared before magistrates in the city on Friday.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts of racially aggravated assault and one of causing racially aggravated harassment.
He was bailed to appear in court on 17 August.
A lawyer for Bowers says: "He is extremely upset at any suggestion of any racial hostility on his part."
