Drew Barrymore admitted that she struggles to balance her work and maintain relationships as she attended the world premiere of her new film, Going The Distance.
The 35-year-old twice-married Hollywood star walked the red carpet in London's Leicester Square with her on-off boyfriend Justin Long, who co-stars with her in the romantic comedy about a couple trying to cope with a long-distance relationship.
Drew said: "I love what I do so much and it's terrifying, the idea of having to give it up for a relationship.
"I also think it's unhealthy to give up your whole life for someone, and put all your hopes and happiness on them. But I think a lot of women are struggling with that - 'Can I have the job and the guy too?' I relate to that."
The former child star, who had "BREATHE" written on her arm in black felt-tip pen, said she was delighted to have the world premiere in London and she looked at ease as she signed autographs and posed for photographs.
But Justin, 32, confessed he was nervous.
He said: "It's overwhelming. There are a few people, I guess, who are used to these things and I... my mouth is very dry, my bladder is at about 80 per cent, creeping to a 90. It's not a natural feeling. It's just weird."
Drew plays aspiring journalist Erin, who lives in San Francisco and is dating record label executive Garrett (Justin), who lives in New York.
The actress, producer and director claims she has a lot in common with her character in the largely improvised comedy, directed by Nanette Burstein.
She said: "Erin and I are birds of a feather. I like to have a drink at the end of a crap day. I like to swear, I like to hang out with the guys, I like to talk dirty with my girlfriends."
