The Saturday Night Takeaway star was having a family meal at the Old Station House gastro pub in west London when a group of men began making rude gestures through the window.

When the group started filming him on their mobile phones, McPartlin went outside to ask them to stop.

According to The Sun newspaper, the gang of men put the presenter in a headlock and his mother Christine was pushed to the ground when she attempted to intervene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said they were called to incident in Spencer Road, Chiswick, shortly after 8pm on Thursday 13 March.

He said: "No allegations were made and no one suffered any injuries."
