Pop star Adele has scored a chart double after her mega-hit album 21 was named the best-selling record on iTunes for a second year running.

The Rolling In The Deep hitmaker was crowned the queen of iTunes last year when 21 was named the highest-selling record of 2011 by bosses of the online digital retailer.

She has now repeated the feat for 2012. The album, which was released in January, 2011, has been named the year's best-selling record ahead of Taylor Swift's latest release Red, which hit charts in October.

Third place went to Mumford & Sons' Babel, while the top five was rounded out by One Direction's Up All Night and Some Nights by fun.

In the songs list, Carly Rae Jepsen's pop anthem Call Me Maybe clinched the number one spot, while second place went to Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know. The top five also included another entry for fun. with Some Nights at three, ahead of Maroon 5's Payphone at four and Nicki Minaj's Starships at five.

iTunes bosses also revealed the year's top-selling movie was The Hunger Games, while The Walking Dead and Downton Abbey ruled the TV categories.
