The young singer was reduced to tears after her performance of 'Moon River' in the movie themed show, with Sharon telling her she lacked "charisma".
She added: "You sang it beautifully, however, the performance, what are we going to do with you Abi?
"People are going to put on the kettle when you start singing. You've got to keep people awake. You need emotion and charisma and I'm not feeling it from you."
Gary felt she was "losing herself" since she started the competition.
But Abi, 19, said she was determined to come back during Saturday's Disco themed show and give her biggest performance yet.
"Last week was tough because both Gary and Sharon didn't have good comments to say about my performance," she admitted.
"I found what Gary said - that I'd lost myself since the start of the competition - was justified. I do feel like I've lost myself in these last couple of weeks. It was hard hearing that from him because Gary is one of my biggest inspirations - it did break my heart.
"But I found what Sharon said - that people would be putting the kettle on during my performance - a bit tough. Personally I've listened to some great artists while drinking tea. But I'm glad she said it earlier rather than later in the competition because now I can work on that and hopefully she will like what I've done this week."
This week, Abi will be singing the massive Gloria Gaynor tune 'I Will Survive'.
"I've picked this song because a song everyone loves and I can take it somewhere new," she explained.
"The lyrics are also very poignant for me, especially after the last couple of weeks. Plus, I'm in control this week - I've had a lot of creative input. From choosing my song, to having my own arrangement, my own staging and picking what I'm wearing - I want to go right back to the girl I was in the auditions.
"I made Nicole cry in routining when I sang this to her - she loved it. I'll be taking a disco track and Abifying it."
The X Factor airs on UTV on Saturday and Sunday from 8pm.
