SDLP Lisburn Councillor Brian Heading is the party's Westminster candidate for Lagan Valley.

Councillor Heading has sat on Lisburn City Council for six years and currently works for Queen's University Belfast. Brian recently became a grandfather when his daughter Alannagh gave birth to a baby boy named Aidan.

Cllr Heading, 53, was co-opted onto Lisburn City Council in 2004. He was Chair of the Council's Leisure Services Committee from 2007- 2009 and currently sits on their Economic Development Committee.

Brian replaced the late Councillor Peter O'Hagan as leader of the Lisburn SDLP Group.
