There had been concerns that Northern Ireland would not profit from the games, but it turned out 45 projects were handled in the region.
And when the sums were added up the total value came to £40m.
One scheme was undertaken by east Belfast firm Lagan Construction, who received £17m for building a key bridge on the main site in east London.
It will link the main stadium to the aquatic centre at the Olympics later this year.
Secretary of State Owen Paterson celebrated the fact that the local firm was among the successful bidders for work.
"It was fantastic today to come from the cabinet meeting in the Olympic park straight here to Lagan," Mr Paterson told UTV.
"In the teeth of intense competition they were given an architect's drawing of a design for a bridge, came up with an idea for a design and had it built on time.
"Many congratulations to all those who worked on this project."
The 2012 Olympics officially get underway in London on 27 July.
