The pub with no beer

Back from the holidays and feeling refreshed. Then a thunderbolt.

Prohibition has arrived at Stormont.

The press bar at the Assembly is being refurnished, much needed new toilets included.

All very well until a colleague revealed... it will be a world first, a press bar without drink.

Now, to be honest, I can't recall an alcoholic drink being bought by the hacks at Stormont.

Drink-driving rules amongst other things means it tends to be a cup of coffee and thankfully that will still be available.

Mind you there have been days after some sessions in the chamber, a drink seemed a very attractive proposition.

But we must live in changing times and as long as the nice scones keep coming than we can live with it.

The nice drink-free Assembly people have also asked me to point out a major sporting event will take place at Stormont next Thursday to mark the opening of the new assembly session.

A team of MLAs will take on the media.

It should be a cracker and has a 3pm kick off.

There was some sport in room 30 where Conor Murphy faced the Regional Development committee over the water crisis.

If next Thursday is as testy, it should be some match.

Nice to be back.
