The Shine star lost her battle with cancer in 2010 and in honour of her screen and stage achievements, executives at the Culture Project have decided to change the name of their mainstage theatre, currently known as 45 Bleecker Street, to the Lynn Redgrave Theatre.

A naming ceremony for the theatre will be held in June this year and the Tony-winning actress' sister Vanessa Redgrave and nephew-in-law Liam Neeson will be Honorary Chairs at the commemorative gala.

Culture Project founder and artistic director Allan Buchman says: "To be entrusted with the preservation of even a small portion of Lynn's legacy is a glorious honour. We hope to infuse her passions in the area of playwriting, education, and the joy of acting into all of our endeavours.

"Certainly, the Redgrave name in theatre exemplifies the highest commitment to the theatrical arts in conjunction with a bold advocacy to human rights and social justice that is the defining purpose of Culture Project."

Lynn Redgrave was no stranger to the Culture Project stage, making appearances in such shows as The Exonerated and A Question of Impeachment.
