The identifying logos that have symbolised UTV through the years.

  • This was the first ident ever seen on Ulster Television in 1959, which was the result of a competition. The winning design was submitted by Roy Irwin of Ballycarry, Co Antrim, and was chosen from more than 450 entries.
  • In 1970, with the arrival of colour, this update of the original ident was produced.
  • In 1989 this new ident was introduced.
  • In 1993, UTV replaced Ulster Television in the onscreen idents and a new symbol was born.
  • The introduction of a new series of idents came in 1996, which highlighted scenic locations across Northern Ireland including the Giants Causeway, Mourne Mountains, Silent Valley amongst others.

  • In 1980, UTV celebrated their 21st birthday and decided to mark the occasion with this new ident.
  • In 2000, the UTV symbol changed, although scenic shots of places across Northern Ireland continue to this day, accompanied by this new UTV logo.
